Eco-flushing
In Germany you are charged for the water you use as well as what you waste down the drain, so in most toilets you will find they have a flush stopping mechanisium. This stops the water that is flushed, so for urine you can do a quick flush without wasting half/whole tank of water.
German windows
Most German buildings have this style of windows that can either open partially from the top by tilting forward, or open completely from the side by swinging them open. These are perfect for warm rainy weather as you get the cool air into the house without the water.
There glass is mostly double or sometimes triple layered with gas between the layers to create better insulation. The insulation keeps the warmth inside and reduces outside noise significantly.
Germany Beer
The law has since been lifted and beer may contain any ingrediants that are allowed in foods, however most brewers still abid to these previous rules in an effort to maintain tradition.
Beer is very cheap in Germany, you will pay around 12 euros for 20 500mL bottles. They are sold as swap-a-crate from shops that also sell bottled water and other drinks in the same way.

Autobahn
They are mainly lined with trees along the country side or in urban areas have sound barriers to reduce noise for nearby residents.
After driving at over 160 km/h for a while reducing your speed to 100 km/h feels like you are doing about 50 km/h. Which was quite deceptive to judge the correct speed when taking a corner exiting or changing autobahns.
